iOS 15 Supported Devices Official List!

A new study indicates that with next year’s release of iOS 15, Apple plans to withdraw support for the iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus. This comes after Apple retained compatibility this year with iOS 14 with all of those users.

The study comes from The Verifier, which when it comes to Apple rumors, has a mixed track record. With that being said, it confirmed correctly that iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 will not get past iOS 12 updates. It also correctly mentioned that all the same iPhones as iOS 13 will be enabled by iOS 14.

This will mean that on the following iPhones, iOS 15 would run:

2021 iPhone lineup
iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone 12 Pro
iPhone 12 mini
iPhone 12
iPhone 11
iPhone 11 Pro
iPhone 11 Pro Max
iPhone XS
iPhone XS Max
iPhone XR
iPhone X
iPhone 8
iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone 7
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone SE (2nd generation)
iPod touch (7th generation)

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were initially launched in September 2015, followed in March 2016 by the iPhone SE. The devices are extremely common and have received software updates from Apple for over four years.

With the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone SE second generation, Apple is now offering two new smartphones that fit the iPhone 6s design form factor. The second-generation iPhone SE is actually nearly identical to the iPhone 6s in terms of design, but with the new A13 processor inside. The iPhone 12 mini is physically smaller, but due to its edge-to-edge nature, alongside the A14 processor and an improved camera system, it provides a larger display.

We have not yet encountered any reports about new features or improvements coming with the update as to what to expect in iOS 15. We don’t expect Apple to announce iOS 15 officially until WWDC 2021. Have you got something on your list of wishes? Let us know in the comments below!
