Install Android 9.0 Pie on Galaxy S10, S10E and S10 Plus (LineageOS 16) – How to Guide!

Lineage OS is one of the most popular custom ROM available for most of the smartphones. Samsung smartphones are not known for its bloatware-free user interface and you will find some of the other third party app installed on any Samsung device. With Lineage OS custom ROM you not only get the bloatware-free user interface but, also get the fast and more customizable ROM for the powerful Samsung device. Moreover, older generation Samsung devices are still quite popular among developers and you can find many of the tutorials or guides for the old Samsung smartphone regarding the custom ROMs. But, with the newer generation smartphones, as Samsung began to ship their devices with the Exynos version of the devices, it became hard for the developers to develop AOSP based distribution.

The US models although continued to get the Snapdragon variants of the devices however, regions like India received the Exynos version of the devices. However, thanks to the XDA developer Ivan Meler, you can now install the Lineage OS 16 for the Galaxy S10, S10E and S10 Plus, Exynos powered smartphones. In this post, we will guide you on how to download and install Lineage OS 16 for the Galaxy S10, S10E and S10 Plus. Note that this Lineage OS 16 is an unofficial custom ROM and you might come across various bugs and glitches on your device. SO, without any further ado, let us get straight into the article itself;

What’s on Android 9.0 Pie?
As we said, Lineage OS 16 is based on the latest OS, Android 9.0 Pie. Android 9.0 Pie is the 9th iteration and a major update of Google’s Android OS. The new Android Pie brings a couple of design changes to the successor Android Oreo but the most notable one is the gesture-based navigation system. Other features of Android 9 Pie are New Quick Settings UI design, Redesigned volume slider, Advanced Battery with AI Support, Notch Support, Improved Adaptive Brightness, Manual theme selection, Android Dashboard which Google calls Digital Wellbeing, and more other features.
Lineage OS 16 Based on Android 9.0 Pie?
Lineage OS 16 is the latest Stock Custom Firmware based on the official Android 9.0 Pie AOSP source code. Along with the official Android 9.0 features, the Lineage OS 16 also brings tons of features and customization option which allows using your phone beyond the Stock Firmware feature. Lineage OS one of the well-known aftermarket firmware built by the team behind cyanogen. In the Android world, Lineage OS is the currently best custom ROM built with many new features.

Important Notes!

This ROM will only work on this device, Don’t try this on any other device.
Follow the steps correctly otherwise you may brick your device. We are not responsible for any damage to your phone.
It will erase all your data, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.

Instructions to Install

1. First Download & Install a Custom Recovery on your device (TWRP is recommended), If you already have installed then skip this step.

2. Download ROM & Gapps .zip file and save it on your device’s Internal storage or SD Card.

3. Now Boot your device into TWRP Recovery Mode. (if you don’t know how to boot your device into twrp recovery then you can search it on Google)

4. Now in TWRP create a Nandroid Backup of your device for safer side. If anything goes wrong, you can restore back to your older ROM. (How to Take Nandroid Backup)

5. Now do a Factory Reset of your device, Goto Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Select Cache, Dalvik Cache, System, and Data. Then Swipe to Wipe.

6. Now go back to TWRP Main Menu by pressing the Center navigation button.

7. Now Select Install, Locate the ROM zip file and Swipe to Confirm Flash.

8. After the flashing completes, Flash the Gapps in the manner.

9. After Gapps flashing completes, Select Wipe cache/dalvik from the bottom left side of the screen, & Swipe to Wipe.

10. After wipe completes, Click on Reboot System.

That’s it Now you have successfully installed the latest Android on your device, the first boot will take some time so please don’t panic!
