Install Android 9.0 Pie on Galaxy A70 (LineageOS 16) – How to Guide!

Samsung Galaxy A70 (a70q) launched in March 2019. The handset came with Android 9.0 Pie. Finally, here is the big update. Now you can download and install Lineage OS 16 on Samsung Galaxy A70. The developers has started working on the next version of Lineage OS based on Android Pie called Lineage OS 16. But be careful, we are not responsible if you brick your device or do something wrong. This update is under beta test and we don’t even say when exactly the next version comes out. So be patient. If you want to try, then take a complete backup of data on your device or create a Nandroid backup using TWRP Recovery.

The Galaxy A50 smartphone is powered by the Exynos 9610 Octa-core processor which is paired with either 4GB/6GB of RAM. It runs on the latest Android 9 Pie and has Mali-G72 GPU. You have the option to buy the Galaxy A50 in two storage options i.e. 64GB or the 128GB version. Moreover, the device also offers to expand the storage capacity to 1TB via a microSD card. In the front, the device has a Super AMOLED 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 1030×2340. The device sport a triple camera set-up at the back with 25MP (wide)+8MP (ultra-wide)+5MP (depth sensor) shooters. And, in the front, you get a single 25MP camera. One of the best features of the device is that it has the under-display fingerprint sensor as well. The Galaxy A50 packs a battery capacity of 4000 mAh.

Lineage OS 16 Based on Android 9.0 Pie?
Lineage OS 16 is the latest Stock Custom Firmware based on the official Android 9.0 Pie AOSP source code. Along with the official Android 9.0 features, the Lineage OS 16 also brings tons of features and customization option which allows using your phone beyond the Stock Firmware feature. Lineage OS one of the well-known aftermarket firmware built by the team behind cyanogen. In the Android world, Lineage OS is the currently best custom ROM built with many new features.

Important Notes!

This ROM will only work on this device, Don’t try this on any other device.
Follow the steps correctly otherwise you may brick your device. We are not responsible for any damage to your phone.
It will erase all your data, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.

Instructions to Install

1. First Download & Install a Custom Recovery on your device (TWRP is recommended), If you already have installed then skip this step.


2. Download ROMGapps .zip file and save it on your device’s Internal storage or SD Card.


3. Now Boot your device into TWRP Recovery Mode. (if you don’t know how to boot your device into twrp recovery then you can search it on Google)


4. Now in TWRP create a Nandroid Backup of your device for safer side. If anything goes wrong, you can restore back to your older ROM. (How to Take Nandroid Backup)


5. Now do a Factory Reset of your device, Goto WipeAdvanced WipeSelect CacheDalvik CacheSystem, and Data. Then Swipe to Wipe.


6. Now go back to TWRP Main Menu by pressing the Center navigation button.


7. Now Select Install, Locate the ROM zip file and Swipe to Confirm Flash.


8. After the flashing completes, Flash the Gapps in the manner.


9. After Gapps flashing completes, Select Wipe cache/dalvik from the bottom left side of the screen, & Swipe to Wipe.


10. After wipe completes, Click on Reboot System.


That’s it Now you have successfully installed the latest Android on your device, the first boot will take some time so please don’t panic!
