Install Android 11 on BQ Aquaris X (LineageOS 18) – How to Guide!

BQ Aquaris X (codename: bardock) launched in April 2017. The handset came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. In this tutorial, we will show you how to download and install Lineage OS 18 on BQ Aquaris X (bardock) device. The Google-owned OS is open source in nature. This allows the userbase to try out tons of customizations and modifications onto your devices. For the starters, they could install themes, icon packs, and launchers from the Play Store. But this is just the beginning. There are a plethora of other tweaks that you could try out on your device.

All that is required is an unlocked bootloader, and then you could easily set your feet in the custom development. From installing a custom recovery like TWRP to gaining root access via Magisk, the possibilities are endless. Along the same lines, you could also try out a customized Android OS in the form of custom ROMs. And in this guide, we will be discussing just that. Today, we will show you the steps to install Lineage OS 18 onto your BQ Aquaris X (bardock) device.Talking about the specifications, BQ Aquaris X Pro features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 Pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 MSM8953 Processor coupled with 3/4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32/64/128GB internal memory with expandable storage support of 256GB via microSD card. The camera on the BQ Aquaris X Pro comes with 12MP rear camera with dual-LED dual-tone flash and 8MP front camera for selfies. It is backed by a Non-Removable 3,100 mAh Lithium-Polymer Battery. BQ Aquaris X Pro also has a fingerprint sensor on the back.

What’s on Android 10?
This year (2019) Google has released the latest version of Android called Android 10. As the name suggests, it’s the 10th iteration of Android OS and offers the most stable & secure user experience than the previous generation Android 9 Pie. Android 10 brings plenty of new features and system improvements like improved gestures navigation, enhanced privacy & location control, improved app permissions, etc. It also includes a system-wide dark mode, live caption, focus mode, foldable display support, 5G connectivity compatible, chats bubble, smart reply, improved security updates, family link, better notifications, and more.

Lineage OS 17.1: Android 10 Build
Lineage OS is an open-source and free operating system that is based on the Android platform. It is the successor to the custom MOD, the CyanogenMod, which shut down its operation in December 2016. However, Cyanogen. Inc retained the rights to the custom MOD and gave a rebranding to it as Lineage OS.

Well, LineageOS 17 will be based on the latest Android 10 and it comes with all the Android 10 features and Lineage customization options which allows users to be more advanced. Now you can enjoy Lineage OS 17.1 on Nokia 9 PureView by flashing this custom ROM.

This ROM will only work on this device, Don’t try this on any other device.
Follow the steps correctly otherwise you may brick your device. We are not responsible for any damage to your phone.
It will erase all your data, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.

Instructions to Install

1. First Download & Install a Custom Recovery on your device (TWRP is recommended) If you already have installed then skip this step.


2. Download GSI ROM file and save it on your device’s Internal storage or SD Card.


3. Now Boot your device into TWRP Recovery Mode. (if you don’t know how to boot your device into twrp recovery then you can search it on Google)


4. Now in TWRP create a Nandroid Backup of your device for safer side. If anything goes wrong, you can restore back to your older ROM. (How to Take Nandroid Backup)


5. Now do a Factory Reset of your device, Goto WipeAdvanced WipeSelect CacheDalvik CacheSystem, and Data. Then Swipe to Wipe.


6. Now go back to TWRP Main Menu by pressing the Center navigation button.


7. Now Select Install, Locate the GSI ROM  file and Swipe to Confirm Flash.


8. After ROM flashing completes, Select Wipe cache/dalvik from the bottom left side of the screen, & Swipe to Wipe.


9. After wipe completes, Click on Reboot System.


That’s it Now you have successfully installed the latest Android on your device, first boot will take some time so please don’t panic!
