Install Android 10 on Oukitel C15 Pro (AOSP GSI Treble ROM) – How to Guide!

So, you’re here and right now reading this article that means you’re a primary user of the Oukitel C15 Pro device and looking for an Android 10 Custom ROM to install. The said device was launched in 2019 and runs on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. As we all know that Google has released the official Android 10 version a couple of months ago and then announced the AOSP 10 Source Code as well. So, now you can download and install AOSP Android 10 for Oukitel C15 Pro by following this guide.

 

Now, you may ask why to install Custom Firmware? Oukitel brand is known for its affordable budget category smartphones, rugged devices, bigger smartphone batteries, and more. But when it comes to the faster and frequent software updates or Android updates, we can’t assure that for Oukitel. Therefore, as a Oukitel C15 Pro device user, if you’re looking for the official stable Android 10 update, probably you may not receive it anytime soon. So, it’s better to install AOSP Android 10 and get a taste of it.

Thanks to XDA recognized developer phhusson for building and sharing the AOSP Android 10 GSI Treble build for all the Project Treble supported devices. Project Treble supports all the Android 8.0 Oreo or higher version running handsets. Now, you may ask what is GSI? A GSI (Generic System Image) is an image with a ‘Pure Android’ implementation with unmodified AOSP code for Android devices. What’s on Android 10?

This year (2019) Google has released the latest version of Android called Android 10. As the name suggests, it’s the 10th iteration of Android OS and offers the most stable & secure user experience than the previous generation Android 9 Pie. Android 10 brings plenty of new features and system improvements like improved gestures navigation, enhanced privacy & location control, improved app permissions, etc. It also includes a system-wide dark mode, live caption, focus mode, foldable display support, 5G connectivity compatible, chats bubble, smart reply, improved security updates, family link, better notifications, and more.

This ROM will only work on this device, Don’t try this on any other device.
Follow the steps correctly otherwise you may brick your device. We are not responsible for any damage to your phone.
It will erase all your data, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.

Instructions to Install

1. First Download & Install a Custom Recovery on your device (TWRP is recommended), If you already have installed then skip this step.


2. Download ROMGapps .zip file and save it on your device’s Internal storage or SD Card.


3. Now Boot your device into TWRP Recovery Mode. (if you don’t know how to boot your device into twrp recovery then you can search it on Google)


4. Now in TWRP create a Nandroid Backup of your device for safer side. If anything goes wrong, you can restore back to your older ROM. (How to Take Nandroid Backup)


5. Now do a Factory Reset of your device, Goto WipeAdvanced WipeSelect CacheDalvik CacheSystem, and Data. Then Swipe to Wipe.


6. Now go back to TWRP Main Menu by pressing the Center navigation button.


7. Now Select Install, Locate the ROM zip file and Swipe to Confirm Flash.


8. After the flashing completes, Flash the Gapps in the manner.


9. After Gapps flashing completes, Select Wipe cache/dalvik from the bottom left side of the screen, & Swipe to Wipe.


10. After wipe completes, Click on Reboot System.


That’s it Now you have successfully installed the latest Android on your device, the first boot will take some time so please don’t panic!
