Galaxy S21 & S21+ leak claim plastic build & No major upgrade!

The Galaxy S21 Ultra from Samsung is shaping up to be an absolute beast, but newly leaked data suggests it could be more disappointing to have the more affordable Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+.

Samsung has no hardware upgrades for the camera in the works.

The Galaxy S21 & S21+ settle for the same setup used on the equivalent Galaxy S20 models in March, whereas the Ultra-branded Galaxy flagship is set to receive an almost entirely new camera system.

Therefore, customers can expect a 12-megapixel main camera coupled with a telephoto shooter of 64 megapixels and an ultra-wide-angle snapper of 12 megapixels. These sit next to the flash of an LED.

The good news is that the phones will support the same options for video recording of 8K/30fps and 4K/60fps as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. There should also be the enhanced Night Mode, Moon Mode and Dual Recording Modes.

120Hz is coming back but without any changes.

The Galaxy S21+ is adorned with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen and the Galaxy S21 features a 6.2-inch panel. Such displays are not quite as good, however as the one used on the Ultra-branded device.

Samsung, for one, has downgraded the resolution from Quad-HD+ to Full-HD+. In addition to this while the 120Hz refresh rate is still supported, by omitting the adaptive LTPO technology, costs are kept as low as possible.

That essentially means that when the high refresh option is activated, the panels constantly run at 120Hz, so the impact on battery life will be much more noticeable. 60Hz is really your only option if you want the best possible battery life.

Fortunately, in the battery department, Samsung has not cut corners. It is said to have fitted the Galaxy S21 inside the Galaxy S20 with the same 4,000mAh cell used, while the Galaxy S21+ has a much larger 4,800mAh one.

Europe is getting Exynos and the US is getting Qualcomm.

Next-gen processors built on the 5-nanometer development process ensure optimum performance at all times. A Snapdragon 875-powered computer will be received from those based in the US, although anyone in Europe will have to settle for an Exynos 2100.

However there is some positive news. The roots of this leak claim that the unannounced Exynos 2100 may be on par or maybe even better than the Snapdragon 875 and more battery-friendly.

Storage specifications have not yet been revealed, although it seems likely to have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of ram. Of course, other versions are planned and will ideally be supported by microSD cards.

Samsung Galaxy S21 & Galaxy S21+ Prices, Colors, Materials

Exact Galaxy S21 & S21+ prices are not available at the moment, but as a result of the global pandemic, Samsung is speculated to be lowering its prices to be more affordable and to reflect the state of the economy.

It’s worth pointing out that the large camera bumps are built into the frame before talking about colorways, but they would not exactly match the colour of the rear panel on all available models.

  • Per the information provided today, the Galaxy S21 will be sold in the following colors:
  • Phantom Violet with a Copper frame
  • Phantom Pink with a Copper frame
  • Phantom White with a Bronze frame
  • Phantom Gray (frame TBC).
  • The Galaxy S21+, on the other hand, is planned in these options:
  • Phantom Black with a Black frame
  • Phantom Violet with a Copper frame
  • Phantom Silver (frame TBC).

As for the build material, it turns out the Galaxy S21 will be made out of plastic. It’s unclear which material will be used on the Galaxy S21+ because the response to plastic was more positive than Samsung expected and a final decision likely hasn’t been made.
